Dear friends of the Walk of Peace!
A year ago the ceremonial opening of the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic took place. We are very pleased that this is a great and living project which is evolving and developing together with you and us.
Fifteen years of our activities have also passed. We are proud of what we have already achieved and we are always willing to put into effect new ideas and projects and to reach new goals.
We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all of you who are, in one way or another, part of our story of the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic which speaks about history, culture, nature, sports, mutual connectedness, reconciliation, remembrance, etc., and above all about peace.
We have prepared a short summary of our activities which can be viewed at: http://www.potmiru.si/15let/
The final statement in the presentation is by Christopher Clark, a historian from the University of Cambridge, taken from his interview for the weekly Sobotna priloga of 21 November 2015.
The backing sound of the presentation is the song Pozdravljena, soseda – Salve, cara vicina (Hello, dear neighbour), by the popular Slovenian singer/composerVlado Kreslin who produced music and lyrics extra for the opening of the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic.
Vlado Kreslin and Italian singer Antonella Ruggiero sang it for the first time at the ceremonial opening of the Walk on 21 March 2015 at the square of Trg Evrope/Piazza Transalpina on the border between Nova Gorica and Gorizia.
(Music and lyrics: Vlado Kreslin; arrangement: Valter Sivilotti; Italian translation: Edoardo De Angelis).
On the occasion of our anniversary a new promotion video was made about the walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic which can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAogPkj2Y7s
As has already been said, you too have contributed to the present results. We will continue to strive to do our work in the best possible way, and we hope for further successful and pleasant cooperation with you.
One of our major projects in progress is the application for entering the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic and the heritage of the Great War on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We do believe that through our joint effort we shall be successful!
